Recently had the opportunity to moderate the “CSF Leak Management: Dural Challenges During Complex Spine Surgery and CSF Leaks: Prevention, Recognition, and Treatment Strategies” surgeon education webinar for Setting Scoliosis Straight.
This was an excellent discussion bringing together leaders in pediatric spine surgery to review prevention strategies, intraoperative decision-making, postoperative management, and real-world approaches to managing these challenging complications.
CSF leaks and dural injuries remain some of the more complex situations encountered during spine surgery, requiring thoughtful surgical planning, prompt recognition, and multidisciplinary management. The webinar provided valuable insight into both evidence-based practices and practical techniques that surgeons can apply in everyday clinical settings.
Educational forums like this play an important role in advancing patient safety, improving surgical outcomes, and strengthening collaboration within the spine community. Opportunities to openly discuss complications, evolving techniques, and shared experiences are essential to continued innovation and improved care for patients with spinal deformities and complex spine conditions.
Grateful to Setting Scoliosis Straight and the outstanding panel of faculty for contributing their expertise and perspectives to such an important conversation.
